Clayers Collective is a place for people who want to bring beauty, craftsmanship and creativity into their daily lives.
We offer pottery classes on the wheel and hand building classes for beginners and advanced students in our pottery studio in Berlin-Wedding.
Classes on the wheel and for hand building
Get creative with your hands, discover the joy of creating with clay and explore the many possibilities of ceramics.
Whether you’re trying out pottery for the first time or already have some experience, our pottery workshops offer a space to learn, experiment and develop your skills. In a relaxed atmosphere, we’ll guide you step by step on your journey with clay.
Learn in small groups
Our classes are held in small groups of no more than six participants. This allows our teachers to give you individual attention and provide you with the best possible support.
The sessions usually last 2.5 hours. This leaves plenty of time for you to experiment, learn and ask any questions that may arise whilst working with clay. We offer our courses in German and English, depending on the date.
Don’t miss out any new class dates
We publish new class dates on a regular basis. If you’d like to be kept informed about new classes, sign up for our newsletter.
We offer courses for both beginners and advanced students. Many participants are working with clay for the first time. No prior experience is required. Our pottery wheel workshops, ‘Feel the Wheel’ and ‘Beginners’ Wheel’, are ideal for beginners who want to get a feeling for working with clay on the wheel.
For advanced potters and participants with previous experience on the potter’s wheel, we offer the ‘Wheel Happiness’ course.
Our hand-building courses are also suitable for beginners and advanced potters.
If you’re not sure which course is best for you, please feel free to get in touch.
Pottery requires a bit of patience and practice, but no prior experience is necessary. Our courses are suitable for beginners, and we’ll guide you through the process step by step. It’s best to come along without any high expectations and fully immerse yourself in the process; that way, you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the end and go home enriched by a new experience.
We want to ensure that everyone enjoys a pleasant atmosphere on our courses. That is why we make every effort to clearly state the language of the course.
You will find a symbol in the course description. ‘DE’ indicates a German-language course, whilst ‘EN’ means the course is held in English. Courses without a symbol are taught in German and/or English, depending on the participants’ needs. Courses with Ella are held in English.
Whether you’re with friends, family or your date – if you’re looking for a creative activity, pottery is a great choice. Sharing the experience brings you closer together, is great fun, and at the end you can admire your first creations together, then collect them a few weeks later and take them home. When you use your pottery in everyday life, you’ll often be reminded of the time you spent together.
We recommend wearing comfortable clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty. When working with clay and water, your hands and clothes usually don’t stay clean. However, clay usually washes out easily, and we’ll provide you with aprons.
If you’ve just come straight from the office or a family celebration, you’re welcome to change your clothes here.
We know that plans can sometimes change. As we are a small studio with limited capacity and often fill our places well in advance, please consider your booking carefully. To help us organise our classes effectively and pass on any vacancies where possible, the following terms and conditions apply to rebooking and cancellation:
Up to 21 days before the first class date, we will refund the full course fee minus a processing fee of €15.00.
Up to 14 days before the first class date, if you are unable to attend, the course can be rebooked onto another course. If there is no suitable time slot available among the currently available courses, we will issue a voucher for a future booking.
If there are fewer than 14 days before the first course date, the course place may be transferred to another person. The contact details of the new course participant must be provided to us in writing in advance. The above conditions continue to apply.
If a course is currently unavailable, please feel free to add your email address to the waiting list in the course description. We will contact you as soon as a place becomes available or the course is posted online with new dates.
Our pottery wheel courses are designed for adults, but young people aged 14 and over are very welcome. For our hand-building courses, we sometimes allow younger participants to join. Please contact us in advance to discuss this.
To ensure a relaxed and focused atmosphere during the class and to ensure there is enough space for all participants, accompanying persons are unfortunately not permitted to stay in the studio or watch. You are, of course, welcome to drop off and collect your loved ones. During the class, you might like to take a relaxing walk along the Panke.
Making ceramics is a slow process, and that is precisely what many people love about it.
After the course, all pieces are left to dry for several days, with thicker pieces often taking a little longer. We then bisque-fire them, which means firing them for the first time at 900 ºC. We remove any dust and sand them down. We then glaze them and fire them a second time at 1,250 ºC.
It usually takes around 6 weeks until all pieces are ready for collection.
