Feel the Wheel :: Introduction to wheel throwing - DE/EN

Have you ever wanted to know how it feels to throw the wheel? Join us this autumn for your first pottery course on the wheel!

Feel the Wheel is our taster class for anyone who’d like to try wheel throwing – no prior experience needed, and no need to commit to a multi-week course straight away.

In 2.5 hours, you’ll get an insight into pottery on the potter’s wheel and can try for yourself how a lump of clay is turned into a vessel. You’ll be guided step by step. With the support of our teachers, you’ll create your very first pieces – perhaps a small bowl, perhaps a little mug, or maybe something completely different. You’ll get a feel for the clay in your hands, have a chance to switch off and try something completely new.

Come along with your loved ones or take a few hours for yourself, have a fantastic experience and, at the end, you’ll be able to say proudly: “I made that.”

What Awaits You:

Small groups . plenty of time at the potter’s wheel . maximum of 6 participants .

Course language: German or English (depending on booking)

The cost of materials and firing is included in the class fee.

At the end of the class, you can choose which pieces you’d like to keep. Select your favourite glaze from our range of 12 studio glazes and we’ll glaze your pieces for €7 each (€10 from the 4th piece onwards).

Your handmade ceramics are usually ready after around 6 weeks. We’ll let you know by email as soon as they’re ready for collection.

Booking information: You can book as many places as are available. If you are not able to book more than one place, there is usually only one place left to book. It happens from time to time that someone cancels their booking. So check back every now and then if your preferred class is fully booked.

Who is this class suitable for?

No previous experience is required. This class is perfect for beginners who want to get a feeling for the clay on the wheel.

Our wheel classes are designed for adults, young people from the age of 14 are welcome.

In which language are classes taught?

A DE marking indicates a German-language course, while EN means that the course is held in English.

Courses without a marking are held in German and/or English, depending on the needs of the participants.

Ella's courses are held in English.

Who is teaching?

Depending on the session, ‘Feel the Wheel’ is led by Ella Brew, Victoria, Finn or Sharman.

Our course teachers bring a variety of experiences and perspectives to ceramics. What they all have in common is a passion for inspiring people to work with clay and supporting them as they take their first steps at the potter’s wheel.

Please refer to our terms and conditions (AGB) for cancellation policy:

Up to 21 days before the first course date, we will refund the course fee fully minus a processing fee of €15.00.

Up to 14 days before the first class date, the course can be rebooked for another course if the participant is unable to attend. If there is no suitable offer among the currently available courses, we will issue a voucher for a future booking.

If less than 14 days before the first course date, the course place can be transferred to another person. The contact details of the new course participant must be given to us in writing in advance. The above conditions still apply.
